About All In For Kids
Grantee Partnerships

Childhood adversity is one of the most devastating public health crises of our time. We all experience stress growing up — and some level of adversity can help a child learn to navigate the world — but repeated exposure to trauma (domestic violence, abuse, neglect or other significant life stressors like poverty and discrimination) can harm children’s developing brains and bodies in the long-term.

But there is hope.

Children and communities can heal if support systems are in place, working together and listening to families — at home, in the community, at school, and in the doctor’s office — and if the underlying conditions causing adversity are addressed.

All In For Kids is a Bay Area initiative dedicated to preventing and ending early childhood adversity in partnership with kids, families and communities that are disproportionately affected by trauma.

In early childhood – when brains and bodies are still developing – repeated exposure to traumatic stress can cause long-term harm, including higher rates of life-threatening diseases, such as heart disease, diabetes, asthma and Alzheimer’s. In school, kids experiencing traumatic stress are 2.5x more likely to fail a grade and score lower on standardized tests.

But there are solutions.
